I enjoy macro photography, but it’s a discipline that I really need to work on. That’s why this set of challenges exists, to force me to look at macro photography in more detail. I’d like to understand a lot more about the art of capturing the very small, detailed elements of the world.
Flowers are perhaps the easiest, and most common subject for macro photography. Therefore the 10 that I need to capture to complete this challenge need to be unique in some way, not just another close up of a daffodil or a rose.
Another common subject, it certainly shouldn’t be difficult finding enough insects to shoot, the challenge will come from getting good results. Also, I’m not saying that they should all be beauty shots, but somehow I need to make images of flies, bugs, beetles, and spiders (yes I know they’re not insects, but I’m including them in this challenge) visually appealing and not repulsive.
It sounds simple at first, take 10 shots of water droplets / splashes. Job done, move on to the next challenge. But, it’s not as easy as that. The shots I’m looking for are specifically “splash” images – rain hammering down on leaves or milk being dripped into a saucer. This challenge is all about creating artistic shots of liquids splashing around, emphasis on the artistic.
2/10 flowers
0/10 insects
0/10 splashes
